Suspension and Transaxle set up

The scheme for the suspension is being developed. We pulled the torsion bars out of the Tube, and fastened up a big Heim joint with a trailing arm. The suspension spring will come from coil overs. The transaxle is ridgid mounted to the chassis, and will have additional support straps. We have new bushings and pivot bolts for the trailing arms. The axles and CV joints will be 930 Porsche parts.

Not Found on e-bay (yet)

This is a mug holder that was in a red Volkswagen that came by the shop the other day. Vache said he made this from an old bean can. This is not on e-bay yet---but I'm sure there are plenty of type 1, coffee chuggers that would love one of these non-billet bad boy's.

Tranny and Goodies

Add Image We got our tranny from Buggy Works, and its all set up with the "tall" gears we need for a record speed. The torsion assembly has been taken apart and blasted. We will leave the torsion bars out of the Speedwagen, and use coil over shocks. We have a heavy duty tranny bracket that we will add engine mounts to. The rules won't allow us to dangle the engine off the tranny. The engine must be supported by its own mount. We have new axles and axle stubs from EMPI,they are Porsche 930 parts. As soon as we get this assembly but together, then we will figure how to mount it to the Chassis. Jim and I had a design session on place mats at Steak & Shake today, and sketched a couple of mounting schemes.
