Speedwagen Race Mill Has Landed

It was just like Christmas today at the shop. The engine from Outback made its arrival on a Penske truck instead of a sleigh. It has been fired and tested at Outback, and is ready to be transplanted into the Speedwagen. I will post some better pics as soon as we get it up on the engine stand.

SPEEDWAGEN NEWS FLASH!

NEWS FLASH-- The Speedwagen engine is completed, and headed to Indy from the engine shop at Outback. If you need the straight scoop on getting a Subaru to run hard, then these are the guys to call. Tell them the cats at the Speedwagen sent you. They also carry Kennedy adaptors, so you can bolt a Subaru to a VW tranny.

Draw EVERY DAY!

We have an ART Studio at the Speedwagen shop(Studio FAHRFRUMNORMAL). This is where the doodles come from to start our projects. I encourage people that have a desire to draw---TO DRAW EVERY DAY! Here is a line drawing of an old Knuckle head Harley that we did to generate a laser tool path from. This was used to burn the ART onto stainless steeel plates. We had to have the art scanned and converted from a raster file into a vector file to guide the laser. DON"T FORGET TO DRAW TODAY

Speedputter II

Here is another old scooter pic. This is one I built in the Old School style (because thats when it was) It had a 1957 Harley hard tail frame, a pan head bottom end with Shovel heads, a solo seat with a dancer pad passenger perch. The dual disc front is a little off of the traditional style---but the old hog brake on the rear didn't get the job done if you were doin some hard rid'in. The little girl on the tank is My daughter Jaime. I used to let her steer when we got up to speed---untill the day she dumped the throttle wide open and almost blew me off the back. All these scooter pics are to let our readers see that at the Speedwagen shop--we build any thing that rolls, as long as its fast!

Speedputter

I found this old picture of a Honda 750 Chopper that I built in 1972. It was 4 cyl with a magneto and fuel injection on the engine. That cleaned up the wiring mess, and got rid of the goofy carbs. The thing sounded like a little Offy engine. So as you can see, we are not bound by tradition at the Speedwagen--if it goes fast, we don't care who's name is on the parts! (yeah thats Bud Man at the Throttle---Today it would be diet coke man )

HUFF-A-RU

The Huffer off of the Supercoupe ended up sitting on the speedwagen mill. This might not be as stupid as I first thought!

Ford meets VW

After spending the day pulling the Supercoupe mill apart, it was time to have some fun. This is the silly stuff for today. A Model A grill shell with the VW emblem hanging in the wind.---No water required! On a serious note, J.W. talked to Outback Motorsports about our race motor today. They are going to finish it,and run the dyno test next week. We are hoping for mucho HP!Once we get the real mill to plumb up, we can start the rest of the chassis fabrication.

Speedwagen Nose Job

This is an old Sprint Car nose piece that I had stuck up in the rafters at Home. I thought I would see how a pointed nose would look. I have a friend who has a Watson Roadster nose, I might see if I can borrow it to see how it fits. Also need to scrounge around to see if I can dig up a track-T nose to look at.
