The Helm

The Rules changed at Bonneville, and our blow molded bucket seat is soon to be on the "black list". The only thing they allow is metal or carbon fiber seats, that are purpose built for racing. I guess they don't want plastic seats catching on fire and roasting buns.---and neither do we!
The pic above is of our new Kirkey Aluminum seat from SPEEDWAY MOTORS.
We had to "SUPER SIZE" it and get the 18" wide version.
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/ Don't go to this site unless you have a lot of time to day dream.

The missing LINK

We just received the "missing LINK" for our drive train. It won't be long before were hot lap'in in the parking lot . The gang at "OUTBACK" shipped us a "KENNEDY" Racing Clutch. Kennedy also made our Subaru to VW adaptor. http://www.kennedyeng.com/ Check them out, they made some unique stuff

Push Water Gear

"SPEEDWAY MOTORS" has shipped us a new JAZ fuel cell for the Speedwagen.

The Mates at "Outback" sent along a fuel pump and filters, so we can give the Subaru Motor a fresh shot of "Push Water"

Now we need some AN fittings and some braided line, and were on the way to start our plumbing assignment.

Life before Video Games

From the private photo collection of Donald Malcom

This picture shows the first Speedwagen with the Original Columbus Comet, "Don-Don" Malcom at the steering rope. The chassis was a ladder that was highly modified using scrap lumber.

The more things change the more they stay the same--Cuz Don and I still have fun, and race cars still get built.

Win a Bug!

The Circle City VW Club will be raffling off the "Blue Bug"
Keep an eye on their web site for the details, half the $$$ goes to the Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis.http://www.ccvw.org/smf/index.php?topic=1522.msg6378;topicseen#n

Revenge of the CHOP-O-MATIC

The CHOP-O-MATIC has struck again!!!!!

Another Bug has suffered from the ruthless attack of the CHOP-O-MATIC.

This curved window Super Beetle had its front end whacked of, so the cab would sit on a beam axle pan. Now as the Queen of Hearts would cry--off with their heads!

The top on this rig is coming down 6" and a hole will be added to the lid, so exits can be made VIA the top.

Ecological Melt Down

http://www.tsrdragracers.co.uk/18136/18325.html
I thought the SubaWagen mutation was alarming. The boys at the G8 conference should see this.
Something is happening in the U.K., It could be further evidence that drag racing causes global COOL!

Global Bug Mutations

http://www.tsrdragracers.co.uk/4598/index.html
Our mates in the U.K. are also having Bug Mutations. The unregulated introduction of Japanese turbo motors, has produced a cross species mutation that has given the Bug the ability to fly and a veracious appetite for Honda's and Mustang's
Subaru engines are pushing their VW tin into the 10 sec E.T. range.
These cats have got some stuff figured out, as demonstrated in the pic above!

SPEEDWAGEN monster motor is loose!

The monster motor is out of its cage, and hung on the trans axle. J.W. made up a set of engine chain brackets, that allow the engine to hang nicely on the the cherry picker. Poke'in this engine on is like plugging in a drop light.

Low Rider, everybody wants one.

Our new 6" dropped tube axle makes us Lowriders for sure!
We have the nose down so it lets the chassis rails sit level with the low down modification that we made to the rear of the car. Tipping the nose back down to gets us a 3.750" clearance on the oil pan ground clearance.
