Should have went to Ziebart!

The body (whats left of it) for the SPEEDWAGEN returned from the blaster today. We have stuck it on a "roller" chassis. Now we can move it around as we work on the body. Dropping the top on this ride is going to be fun. The roof is the only steel that has not been attacked by Indiana Road Salt, so body repair will be in order. Here are some Top Chopp'in articles that are good reading. Enjoy---http://www.runtrod.com/articles-roof.html

Father of the Rat Fink

If your new to Hot Rod's, you need to find out about this cat. He is the original Rod Father! This car was appropriately called the Mysterion http://www.mrgasser.com/mysterion.htm

Speedwagen Motor Pool

The SPEEDWAGEN fleet of hoopties has a couple of T-Birds perched side by side. One is a Turbo Coupe & the other is a Supercoupe, They add variety to our eclectic mix of rides. These old Fords will surprise you at the stop light, they both like to show off. At the Speedwagen we don't care where it's from from, or who makes it---all we care about is HOW FAST IS IT!--Just say NO to SLOW!

Single Seat Chassis

I found this old pic on the www.runtrod.com site. It's similar to our chassis plans.

How SWEEEEET IT IS !

Man you never know whats going to show up behind the shop. This 36 Ford gets the RIDE OF THE DAY award!

Hoop'in it up!

We have decided to build a Halo Cage similar to the one above. It is a SoCal cage for a 32 Roadster. This design is approved for use at Bonneville. We had thought about the more traditional VW drag car double HOOP style, but after seeing the GM HHR after its tumble last year----I think were going to wrap our helmets in a Halo Cage.
We have been waiting for the sandblaster to call us, so we can get the body back. We need the body on so we can fit the cage to the tin. J.W. called the Blaster, and they said COME & GET IT.
Hopefuly it will be dry weather next week, so we can go pick it up.

One is lonely number

The Speedwagen was acting depressed, so we put together a garage mate to make things less lonely. Tucked against the wall is the start of a "Flying Pan" . It has been equipped with a 2.0 Subaru to push it along. Who knows this might turn into our push vehicle.

Wageneer Sunday School

1 Corinthians 9:24Do you not know that in a RACE all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
Wageneer Cameron takes his Sunday school lessons serious----Don't try to beat this cat out of the Church parking lot!

tin city

We have started construction of the bottom of the car, as we wait for the top to return from the blaster. All the pieces are coming together as hoped. We are fortunate to have a local supplier of small qty fabricating materials. a.e.d motorsports http://www.aedmotorsports.com check em out!

We have been thinking about how to do the skin on the inside of the SPEEDWAGEN.
This pic is of a VW interior that was at the world of wheels.
We have aquired a bead roller and a combo brake/shear/roller gizzmo.
The plannishing hammer is here, but the English wheel is on back order.
Let the pounding begin!

Speedbaby Elise

Proverbs 22:6 (New Living Translation) 6 Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. This is Elise my new Granddaughter--She came to the shop for a 4th of July party. This was my first chance to put her in a race car. Being a Grand Daddy-O has some good moments. Her Mommy was my garage buddy when she was a little girl, and it's nice to have a chance to spoil another one.

Its a blast!

Wrenchette Patty admires the reinforcing bars that hold our rusted hulk until we get some steel welded back in, and the top chopped on this Super Beetle skin.
The body is loaded on the trailer in preparation for a trip to the sand blaster to remove the tooth decay--hope there is something left to bring back.
